1. Hyke&Byke Snowmass Sleeping Bag

Hyke&Byke Snowmass Sleeping Bag

Temperature rating: 0°F-30°F

Fill material: Down Fill

Weight: 3.23 lbs

Shape: Mummy

Hyke and Byke was started by three engineers who loved the outdoors. They wanted to create gears and sell them for a price that is not far from the manufacturing cost and they aimed to ensure that it would benefit both the company and the consumers. They started cutting down costs without having to lower the quality of their products. Our best overall sleeping bag is the Hyke and Byke Snowmass and here’s why.

What we like

What we like about the Snowmass sleeping bag is that it provides premium quality down, which is considered as higher quality than synthetic. Snowmass is one of the best lightweight, zero degree sleeping bags. It is available in three sizes up to 6’6” and comes in various colors. It is packable and very easy to carry around, with a weight ranging from 3.23 lbs to 3.56 lbs and compresses to 11 inches long and 8 inches in diameter. It is equipped with nylon coated compression panels at the top and bottom. The compression straps are of black nylon webbing, which connects with plastic buckles and are quickly released. It has a double large YKK zipper with a two-way lock system, and it is also available with a zip plow system, which will not cause the fabric and fill to sag.
This Snowmass sleeping bag is filled with 90/10 premium quality duck down and 550 fill power, providing insulation and warmth for campers. It is constructed with waterproof fabrics and enough space to carry blankets, liners, pillows and pads. It also comes with a comfy foot box and wide shoulder space. It includes a storage sack and it also has drawstring baffles.

What we don’t like
While there are a lot of features in the Hyke and Byke Snowmass, there are also some downsides, one of which are the zippers that keep getting stuck. However, Hyke and Byke have released a new zipper design and most of us didn’t seem to have any more problems with the zippers. Overall, the Snowmass is a good option when you want a lightweight, cost-effective and quality sleeping bag.

2. Tennier Military Modular Sleep System

Tennier Military Modular Sleep System

Temperature rating: -50°F to 50°F

Fill material: Unavailable

Weight: Approx. 8-11 lbs. in total

Shape: Mummy

Tennier Industries Inc. has been producing performance uniform items, equipment and sleep systems, over the last 30 years. They are the leading contractor for the U.S. Military and have built a strong partnership with the U.S. Department of Defense.
The company is committed to making quality products and has the ability to comply with highly specified military requirements. They have evolved into being the single source of sleeping bag systems for the military.

What we like about the Tennier Military Sleep System is that it is a high quality, military grade integrated system, which includes two sleeping bags, a bivy cover, which is Gore-Tex waterproof and a stuff sack. It can also be called the ‘Army Modular Sleep System’, ‘Improved Modular Sleep System’ and ‘Marine Corps Sleeping System.’
The outer shell, which is called a ‘bivy sack,’ is 100% waterproof Gore-Tex, which will protect you from snow, rain and wind. The second and third layer consists of the Patrol sleeping bag, which is rated to give comfort up to 30°F and the Intermediate Cold Weather sleeping bag, which is rated to -10° F. Each layer can be used independently or combined, depending on the climate. The fourth piece in this system is the compression stuff sack, which will allow you to compress the layers down to a cubic foot. It also has a drawstring top to keep your head and face warm in harsh and windy weather conditions. It has a sturdy zipper system, which can allow air to flow through the bag and an extra room at the foot.
Each component of this sleep system is made from fray resistant nylon that has water shedding and waterproof capabilities. The colors are in camouflage patterns in order to blend with the surrounding environment.

What we do not like about the Military Sleep System is that it weighs around 8 to 11 pounds; they are quite heavy compared to the many lightweight and ultralight bags in the market. They are still big for most backpacks when compressed; however, they can be easily attached to the outside or bottom of a backpack. Overall, this Military Modular Sleep System will both benefit military personnel and non-military outdoorsmen and women; it will also keep you dry and warm in any season.

Fill material: SuperLoft Elite Synthetic Polyester

Weight: 16.5 lbs

Shape: Rectangular

Teton Sports began doing what they do best in Utah in 2005. Their headquarters are at the foot of the Wasatch Mountains in Cedar Hills, Utah. They began as an idea that no matter the person, time and place, anyone and everyone should be able to enjoy life and the outdoors. So over the years, they have been producing quality sleeping bags, cots, hammocks and backpacks.

What we like about the Teton Sports Mammoth sleeping bag is that it can accommodate two adults and a kid, it is very warm and sturdy with its snag-free zippers, Taffeta shell, brushed polyester flannel and a mummy-style hood that you can use as a pillow. It also comes with an Oxford stuffing sack with compression straps and drawstrings. The zipper on the bottom of the sleeping bag allows for ventilation and for the bag to completely open. The zippers on each side will allow you to get out of one side without bothering the person on the other side. It can also unzip into two entirely different sleeping bags.

It features offset seams to prevent the filling from sliding around the bag and the flannel lining that is warm and comfortable and does not hold any smell. It also comes with its own carrying bag and instead of folding the bag in a specific manner; you just have to shove it into the storage bag. Its size is 94”x62” (239x157cm) and its size when packed is 28” x 15.75” x 15.75” (71x40x40cm).

What we do not like about the Mammoth sleeping bag is that it is huge and you have to have a massive tent to be able to accommodate it, thus it is more recommended for couples and families who are out on a campground trip. It is also heavy and not really advisable for hiking. Another downside is that the sleeping bag tends to get hot in warmer weather conditions.

Overall, the Mammoth sleeping bag is great for families and anyone who wants to stay warm and comfortable during cold nights on a camping trip.

4. Big Agnes Dream Island 15 Sleeping Bag

Big Agnes Dream Island 15 Sleeping Bag

Temperature rating: 15°F

Fill material: Synthetic

Weight: 9 lbs. 7 oz

Shape: Rectangular

The Big Agnes Company started about twenty years ago. They are based in a ski town in Northwestern Colorado and name their products after geographical features in the local backcountry outside Steamboat Springs, Colorado. In just a few years, the company has grown into an award winning producer of sleeping bags, sleeping pads and tents.

What we like about their Dream Island sleeping bag is that it is made of the softest and smoothest fabrics, making this sleeping bag super comfortable. It measures more than 50 inches wide, and lofts high with 4.5 pounds of insulation. It is insulated with FireLine Max synthetic, which is a recycled insulation with a blend of fibers for added warmth and is rated to keep you comfortable for up to 15 degrees Fahrenheit. It can be compressed to a 10.5” x 11.5” or 27x29cm in size and it fits two persons up to 6’6” in height.

It features two separate pockets to accommodate your own pillow and this also prevents it from slipping out of place. There is a zipper on each side for one to be able to get in and out without disturbing the other. It comes with an internal drawcord for the hood to tighten it on more chilly nights. The zippers are anti-snag locking YKK Zippers and this bag also comes with exterior loops for hang drying or storage. There is also a large pocket on the underside of the bag so you can easily insert a sleeping bag and hold it tightly in place. Big Agnes recommends their inflatable Hinman pad for this Dream Island sleeping bag or any double wide sleeping pad with a 50” x 78” or 127x198cm in size, or two rectangular pads with a size of 25” x 78” or 64x198cm.

What we do not like about this sleeping bag is that it is not insulated in the bottom, so the use of a sleeping pad is essential. For winter camping, you might also want to bring an extra sleeping bag liner and an insulated mat for added warmth. The Big Agnes Dream Island sleeping bag is large and heavy, so it is more recommended for car camping trips and not for trekking because it is heavy to carry around. Overall, if you want a super comfortable sleeping bag with plenty of space, this sleeping bag is a good option.

5. SleepinGo Double Sleeping Bag

SleepinGo Double Sleeping Bag

Temperature rating: 30°F

Fill material: Tetron and Cotton

Weight: 3 lbs

Shape: Rectangular

When setting out on a camping trip and deciding what sleeping bag to buy, you have to consider that warmth is a big factor, but that doesn’t mean trading off comfort, which is why you need one that will offer both these factors.

What we like about the Sleepingo double sleeping bag is that it is an excellent option for moderately cold weather conditions, and is rated up to 30 degrees Fahrenheit. It is spacious enough, with a 210 thread count inner, which retains body heat and helps you sleep comfortably. Measuring 87” x 59” and a queen size XL rating, this will definitely offer enough space for two persons. It features a soft and silky inner material that is combined with an outer shell, which is made of polyester fabric that is water-resistant; it is also constructed with a rip-resistant polyester liner, making this sleeping bag ideal for couples or family outings. It also comes with two pillows, this is actually a good feature because we all know how uncomfortable it is to sleep or lay our head down on a hard surface. Weighing only 3 pounds and compresses into 15” x 12” in size, this sleeping bag is very easy to carry around. It is spacious and you can also use it as two individual sleeping bags.

What we do not like about this sleeping bag is that it has no mummy hood and you cannot cinch the neckline, which means that there is not a lot of warmth around the head and neck area. It is rated 30 degrees Fahrenheit, so it is recommended to bring extra layers of warmth when you plan to bring this sleeping bag anywhere with freezing temperatures.

Overall, the Sleepingo double sleeping bag is built to offer the best comfort in moderately cold conditions; it is also lightweight and can be easily carried during trekking trips.

6. Klymit KSB 30°F Double Two Person Sleeping Bag

Weight: 5 lbs

Shape: Rectangular

What we like about Klymit’s KSB sleeping bag is that it packs down smaller than most double sleeping bags, measuring just 17.25” x 11.25” x 11.25” or 45x29x29cm when compressed.

The top layer of this sleeping bag is stuffed with 80/20 grey duck, with a 650 fill power, which is remarkably warm. The duck feathers are also very light, making this bag very easy to carry around and quite compact to be able to easily pack it into storage.

It comes with individual draft covers that allow for ventilation. The built-in hood has a center snap that creates two separate compartments just in case you want a personal hood. The top half can be unzipped completely and can be used as a separate comforter. The bottom of the sleeping bag includes a sleeve for two single-sized sleeping pads or Klymit’s inflatable Double V pad.

What we do not like about the KSB sleeping bag is that it is a bit too short for tall people with a dimension of 82” x 46” or 208 x 117cm. It is also recommended for moderately cold weather conditions and you may need extra liners or extra insulation for freezing conditions.

Overall, if you are looking for an inexpensive sleeping bag to keep you warm and comfy and that is spacious enough for two,  this KSB bag might be a good option.

Best For Kids

7. TETON Sports Celsius Junior

TETON Sports Celsius Junior

Temperature rating: 20°F

Fill material: SuperLoft Elite Hollow Fiber

Weight: 2.65 lbs

What we like about the Celsius Junior is that it is super warm and will keep your kid comfortable for up to 20 degrees Fahrenheit. With its soft polyester flannel liner and Teton Sports’ very own SuperLoft Elite 4-Channel Hollow Fiber fill, it is also constructed with a Taffeta shell that is highly resistant to abrasion and water.
It features a draft tube to keep warm air in and an adjustable, curved hood to keep your kid’s head off the ground; it also comes with a stash pocket to store a flashlight, small accessories or even a midnight snack. If your kid gets too toasty, you can unzip the bottom for air flow or if your kid just wants to stick his foot out. This bag can also fit young adults with its 66” x 26” dimensions.

This sleeping bag comes with an Oxford stuff sack with a drawstring closure and can be packed into a 13.75” x 7.75” x 7.75” in measurement. It weighs about two and a half pounds, making this bag lightweight and not too heavy to be carried out to a campsite.

What we do not like about this sleeping bag is that it may be too narrow for kids who toss and turn during sleep. It is a bit bulky and you have to fold it carefully and force all the air out to be able to squeeze it into the carry bag. For winter camping, it is advisable to add extra layers of insulation for added warmth. Overall, this is a good option for kids and teens who also want to enjoy the outdoors.

8. Kelty Boys & Girls Big Dipper Sleeping Bag

Kelty Boys & Girls Big Dipper Sleeping Bag

Temperature rating: 21°F to 30°F

Kelty is a brand owned by Exxel Outdoors, LLC. , which started in 1952 in Boulder, Colorado and to this day, their products are widely sold by large outdoor outfitters. They manufacture high-end backpacks, tents and sleeping bags, which they say are built to last and will inspire you to discover the joy of spontaneous play.

What we like about the Big Dipper sleeping bag is that it is designed to have a foot area with a spiral zipper, which will allow you to extend it up to 12 inches, which means that it can fit children up to 5 feet or 152cm in height.

It is a mummy-shaped bag that is insulated with 31 ounces of premium Cloudloft, which is a double-layer synthetic fill. It is also constructed with a 66D Taffeta shell and liner that is durable enough to withstand wear and tear. When compressed into the stuff sack, it measures about 10” x 15” in size and weighs 3 pounds. It has a temperature rating of 30 degrees Fahrenheit and also features a draft collar to prevent cold spots. There is a contoured and elasticized hood with no fussy cords and a locking zipper that has sliders at the top and bottom for easy venting.

There are two parallel strips of webbing on both sides of the main zipper to allow it to be smoothly pulled without snagging onto the nylon liner.

What we do not like about this kids version of Kelty Big Dipper is that it is a bit heavy and is not very compressible, so it is more suitable for campground trips rather than for backpacking.

The spiral zipper is not as heavy duty and protected like the main zipper so kids might need help with zipping. Overall, even if this is not the most lightweight sleeping bag, it will still provide warmth and comfort and has an ability to grow with your child for a few more seasons.

9. Morrison Outdoors Little Mo

Morrison Outdoors Little Mo

Temperature rating: 20°F

Fill material: Goose down

Weight: 9 oz.

Shape: Sleep sack

Their Little Mo line of sleeping bags is now in stock at over 60 locations across the USA and they donate a percentage of their sales to charities.

What we like about the Little Mo sleeping bag is that it comes in a 20°F and 40°F version and this 20°F Little Mo is made from goose down with 800 fill power to keep body heat from escaping. Having a high fill power means that this sleeping bag is lightweight at only 9 ounces or 245 grams and can be compacted to about the size of a large water bottle.

It is designed to meet AAP (American Academy of Pediatrics) Safe Sleep Guidelines for infants, which means that there are no hood or drawstrings; the fleece collar should be snug and secure enough to keep small kids from slipping inside.

It features a reverse zipper for easy diaper changing without the need to remove the entire sleeping bag. Along with the zipper is a soft fleece flap to keep the cold metal away from the skin.  A down-insulated draft tube also runs behind the zipper, to keep heat from escaping.

The sleeve ends are sewn closed for optimum warmth in cold weather and the footbox is also fully enclosed to keep those tiny toes warm.
The nylon exterior is water-resistant and is soft to touch, and provides excellent resistance to “accidents,” while being breathable.

The 20°F Little Mo runs 32 inches long to fit infants and toddlers aged 6 to 24 months and it is advisable not to use for children under 6 months.

What we do not like about the 20°F Little Mo sleeping bag is that the sleeves are a little confined or narrow that you cannot even reach inside to help your child’s arms get through. It is also not a good option if your child does not want to be swaddled. This sleeping bag might also come too long; however, it allows for room to grow. Overall, this bag is best for babies and toddlers for cold weather camping trips and it is also machine washable for easy cleaning.

Best Under $100

11. Marmot Trestles 15 Sleeping Bag

Marmot Trestles 15 Sleeping Bag

Temperature rating: 15°F

Fill material: Synthetic

Weight: Approx 3.6 lbs

Shape: Mummy

Marmot was founded in Colorado in 1974 as Marmot Mountain Works by a local resident and two university students who shared a goal of making their own mountaineering gears. The name “Marmot,” stands for a group of highly social ground squirrels, which are large and live in mountainous areas. The brand is committed to designing the highest quality performance equipment.

What we like about the Trestles sleeping bag is that it gives ample protection from the elements, with its 35 ounces of Spirafil High Loft insulation and for warmer weather, it provides ventilation through the use of two versatile zippers that can be opened both sides so that you can easily sit up and bring your hands out while your core is covered. The manufacturing process of this design is made easier and faster with the use of a sewn-through shingled wave construction, while the bag is kept warm by offset baffling.

This sleeping bag is constructed with a full length locking YKK two way zipper, a mate-able main zipper with anti-snag slider, which will allow you to attach two bags together to make a double wide structure to fit two people and each can have their own ventilation with the use of the fold-down second zipper. It also features a 3D hood construction, a stash pocket, draw cords, two hang loops, a snag-less insulated draft tube and a compression stuff sack. It can fit anyone with up to 6.5 feet in height, the regular and long sized sleeping bag can be compressed into 9.5 x 19 inches, while the long wide size can be compressed up to 9.5 x 21 inches.

What we do not like about the Marmot Trestles sleeping bag is that it is heavy at more than 3 pounds and takes a lot of space even when it is compressed into the stuff sack, making this unsuitable for multi-day backpacking. This bag leaves plenty room for layers but it is a bit too spacious for someone who is slender. Additionally, the dual zippers do not allow the pull cords of the hood to be wrapped entirely. Overall, this is a sleeping bag that is suitable for car camping and is recommended for couples who wish to buy two trestles and zip them together, because it can form a fun sleeping system.

12. Coleman Heritage Big & Tall Sleeping Bag

Coleman Heritage Big & Tall Sleeping Bag

Temperature rating: 0°F/10°F

Coleman started when they created the first gas-powered, portable lantern used in the first evening game of football in the west of Mississippi in 1905. Their Coleman camping stoves were also very beneficial for soldiers during WWII, thus Coleman continued to transform and manufacture their outdoor products, leading them to make tents, sleeping bags, lighting and more. Up to this day, they have become one of the most famous manufacturers of outdoor equipment.

What we like about the Coleman Big & Tall sleeping bag is that it is made for extremely cold weather conditions. It comes in 84 x 40 inches (213 x 102 cm) in size and can fit any camper with a height up to 6’7”. So this is definitely a large sleeping bag that can fit taller people. Its packing size is 20.75 x 11.5 inches (53 x 29 cm) .
It is constructed with 5 pounds of ColethermHollofil 808 insulation and Fiberlock to keep it from shifting from one place to another. It is also equipped with ThermaLock so that heat will not escape through the zipper.

The Coleman Heritage Big & Tall can also be used as a blanket when fully unzipped, measuring 84 x 80 inches (213 x 203 cm). You can also zip it with another sleeping bag to have a double-sized bag and share it with your partner. Additionally, it also features a comfort cuff, which is a plushy material at the edge of the bag to keep your face and neck more comfortable and warm.

What we do not like about the Heritage Big & Tall sleeping bag is that it can be heavy to carry around. It weighs 9.19 lbs (4.17kg) and is more suitable for car camping trips. Most of us also noticed that the outer fabric is a bit thin and it does not come with a hood but overall, this sleeping bag is built for comfort and protection, although they are not for the trail. It can also be easily washed and maintained due to its cotton outer shell and liner.

What we like about the Teton Sports Celsius XXL is that it provides optimum warmth with its two layers of insulation, a nylon taffeta shell fabric and a brushed polyester flannel lining. The shell is water-resistant so you do not have to worry about moderately wet weather conditions. Along with this is the draft tube and a neck collar, which is adjustable, to lessen airflow from the top of the sleeping bag.

It comes with a stuff sack that has compression straps and can double as handles for carrying. When compressed, it measures up to 17” x 12.5” (44x31cm) and weighs about 7 pounds (3.2kg).

There is a zipper closure flap to hide the prickly Velcro and a taped zipper backing to prevent it from snagging on the fabric. Additionally, it has interior pockets for your wallet or keys.

What we do not like about the Celsius XXL is that the main zipper does not extend along the foot of the bag, which means that it cannot be used as a large blanket. Also, the washing instructions specify that it can only be hand washed and must lay flat to dry. Machine washing will void the warranty; however, the synthetic materials in this bag dry much quicker.

Overall, if you need a comfortable sleeping bag with all synthetic materials, this Celsius XXL is a good option; it is suitable for car camping even in rainy weather conditions.

The zipper has an anti-snag system that plows away the fabric when zipping. There are zippers available at either side so it’s easy to get in and out.

What we do not like about this sleeping bag from the Ohuhu brand is that the zipper is not that durable and might cause it to not function well and it may break easily. It is also advisable to bring additional layers when camping out in cold weather conditions. Overall, this sleeping bag is lightweight and packable; its stuff sack has sturdy straps, making it easy to carry and it has an adequate room for two people. It is insulated with 200 grams of hollow fiber filling and uses a special quilting system to prevent the cold air from getting in. The outer layer is made of high-quality polyester with a 350T polyester shell and lining. Its exterior is water-resistant, with a Rip-Stop cover.

The sleeping bag measures 87” x 32”, it is a fairly narrow, mummy-type bag, which has a box-shaped footbox to allow movement. This is a lightweight bag, weighing only 2.8 pounds and it comes with a compression sack and an extra carry bag. When compressed, it measures down to 9.8 x 8.5 x 8.5 inches.

It features a hood that pulls over the head and comes with a drawstring that you can adjust to keep your head warmer on cold nights. It has a snag-free double zip for easy zipping and unzipping. The sleeping bag can be machine-washed and is very quick to dry, which is convenient.

What we do not like about this sleeping bag is that it may be troublesome trying to stuff the bag back into its compression sack. The main zipper also does not zip all the way down, which prevents you from using it as a blanket and also restricts ventilation and this bag may also come tight for some of us who are over 250 lbs, but overall, it is a good option for tall campers. It is easy to wash and it is an affordable choice for camping trips.

FAQs

How do you sleep in a sleeping bag in cold weather?

When you are out on a camping trip in cold places, you have to consider the things that will keep you warm and comfortable when sleeping in a sleeping bag.
To help you preserve body heat, you have to consider a well-chosen campsite, bringing a quality tent that can withstand the weather elements, an insulating pad and a bag liner.

Covering your head, wearing dry clothes and emptying your bladder before you sleep can also maintain warmth. Wearing wet clothes will degrade the sleeping bag's insulation because the moisture from your clothes will get trapped with it. Wearing too much clothing or filling your sleeping bag with a lot of stuff may compress its insulation and reduce the warm air that it can trap.

It is best to wear a dry base layer in your sleeping bag; it should be loose-fitting so that your hands and feet will not get cold due to the loss of circulation.
When it's a little too warm, you can unzip your sleeping bag for ventilation and zip it back when it starts to get cold. The body heat that you produce during the night changes based on how recently you consumed food. So if you wake up cold at night, you may want to consider having a sweet and fatty snack without caffeine.

What is a sub zero sleeping bag?

A sub zero bag is specifically for extreme cold weather. Cold temperatures can be dangerous, especially when you are not prepared and a good sub zero sleeping bag is one of the essentials that you may want to bring.

A good sub zero bag should be water-resistant to allow you to camp out on the rain or snow. A down insulation performs poorly when wet, while a synthetic insulation does better but not a hundred percent. It should have a temperature rating of at least -9 to -40 degrees Fahrenheit and an 800 and above fill power; it should also be lightweight to be carried easily and should have enough room for layers and movement. While there are a lot of sub zero sleeping bags on the market, it is still best to be prepared to enjoy winter camping.

BUYING GUIDE

The right sleeping bag can make a big difference to having a restful night, so knowing how to choose the best ones is essential. Thus, our buying guide can take you through the important factors and features so that you can easily decide which sleeping bag is best for you.

Temperature ratings - All sleeping bags indicate the minimum temperature they are designed to handle; however, temperature rating should not be taken seriously as there is no standard method for determining ratings. This means that manufacturers make their own claims. Most are realistic and some are just optimistic ratings.

Insulation - Down insulation is the lightest insulation; it is more compressible and it retains its loft longer, but it is generally more expensive, depending on the fill power, which is its quality rating. Fill power ranges from 600 to 900 and the higher the amount, the warmer you are going to be.

Synthetic insulation comes in a lot of different types but generally, it is fluffy polyester that doesn't absorb water, although they may come bulkier and heavier but are less expensive.

Shapes - Mummy-shaped bags come with a tapered cut through the legs and feet for optimum thermal efficiency. They have plenty of room on the shoulders and torso and they use less materials and insulation, making them lightweight and smaller to pack.

Rectangular, Regular or Envelope sleeping bags are not tapered at all through the legs and can be fully opened and used as a blanket but are less efficient when it comes to warmth. There are also semi-rectangular sleeping bags that are in between a mummy and a rectangular and are a good choice for someone who can deal with the confinement of a mummy bag but gives ample room for movement; they are more bulky and heavier than mummy-shaped bags.

Inner lining - The most common materials used for inner linings are nylon or polyester. There are also flannel and cotton linings that are more lightweight and breathable but trap moisture and are not suitable for colder conditions.

Outer fabric - The outer shell of a sleeping bag is made mostly out of nylon-rip stop, which is highly durable; some are water resistant and breathable.

Hood - A sculpted hood with adjustable drawstrings will keep your face and head warm and is essential because most of our body heat is lost through our head.

Draft collar/tube - This helps to stop body heat from escaping the bag and keeps the cold out around the neck and shoulders.

Stuff Sack - Most mummy sleeping bags come with a stuff sack with draw cords for closure. Rectangular bags can be folded easily and stuffed into their bag. There are also compression straps available in most to be able to reduce its packing size.

Sleeping bag liners - These can be inserted into the sleeping bag to add an extra layer of warmth.

Sleeping mats - These mats and roll mats go under the sleeping bag and supply insulation from the ground to keep you warm.

Besides all of these, it is also essential to consider the extra unique features that a sleeping bag may offer. Additionally, for the maintenance and cleaning, you have to read the label or follow the manufacturer's guidelines to extend the life of the sleeping bag and to prevent voiding its warranty.
