As we mentioned in the introduction, we really admire and praise the special features that Coleman has plastered in this air mattress. It is the Support Lock System and Double Lock Valve. The construction of which is very thick and solid that when you lay down on it, it will not shrink easily because of the said technologies that the manufacturer engineered. We only want you to watch out for the package gears included when you buy this. It is known that some Coleman air mattresses do not have air pumps.
Comfort and Warmth
This self-inflating mattress is one of the stable and comfortable beds we have reviewed. The overall look says it all. The inflated feature makes you feel that you'll want to lie down because of the surface and the structure.
In connection, we'll have a small overview for Coleman. This is a manufacturer of this air camping bed that has been making reliable equipment for tents, sleeping bags, canopies, coolers, lighting, camping accessories, and essentials. It was founded by William Coffin Coleman who was able to design a Gas-powered lantern in the 1900s. Up until now, their products have been prominent and trusted by many.
Now let's go back to the features of this inflatable bed. This bed has 24-air coils which make it durable and firm. Coils work as a support to mold the mattress to keep its shape. If we describe the top surface of the bed, there are hollow pockets combined with thick foam.
You can assure comfort and relaxation with this feature from our opinion based on our testing. Some of the air-supported mattresses usually make you feel buried in but Coleman has thought of a solution to counter this problem because of its Support Lock system. This makes the bed compact and fit to carry your weight although this is powered with air.
Aside from the said features, Coleman has secured the airing of this equipment. They specially made it with a leak-free airtight system. It is also equipped with a double-lock valve. You can guarantee that it won't deflate while you are resting on it.
We just wanted to point out that this isn't suitable if you are a person who seeks a long life capability without getting damages or reducing its quality. Even though this is durable equipment, we can say that it will wear out if you use it continuously.
There are a few downsides when you side sleep as this is a thick fabric, you may feel a portion of discomfort because of the pressure on your sides. The same thing if you are much of a stomach sleeper. It does not fully give you comfort in that position.
Although this is considered a huge and thick bed, you can still bring it on your trekking, camping, camping or any outings you plan to. But also, this can serve as an extra bed for your guests in your house. The versatility of this inflatable bed covers numerous purposes.
What we like about this Coleman air camping bed is the fact it inflates into thick and broad size but it also deflates thinly and fits properly in its portable storage bag. Carrying it around is not a struggle to expect. It just converts into a small and flat package.
According to Coleman, the bed can carry a maximum weight capacity of 148 kilograms. This is already a heavyweight so it is a total advantage for the users because not only one person can use it.
Weight and Packed Size
Coleman Comfort Single Air Camping Bed is a simple, portable, and durable. If you deflate it, it becomes a small and compact item that is not expected to blow up bigger when fully set up.
The inflated dimension of this air bed is 188 x 82 x 22 centimeters. It has a total weight of 2.3 kilograms that is about 5 pounds. The package comes with a repair set and a carry bag for easy transport and backpacking.
We find the weight somehow will add heaviness to your other things if you plan to hike but, this is not an absolute heavy thing. If you are going to bring a couple of camping gear and stuff, we suggest you transport everything with a vehicle. This is much convenient and easier.
However, with the advantages we have enumerated, some of Coleman's air mattresses may not include any air pumps on the package. This is the downside of these kinds of beds. You will be forced to buy an automatic air pump for easier inflation. You can check Intex Prestige Downy Airbed Kit. It comes with a handheld battery pump.
Ease of Use
There are several manufacturers who designed their inflatable beds with unique features. One of them is Coleman. From our evaluation, this isn't just common equipment. They structured this inflatable bed to give the users more advantages and ease.
The features that the manufacturer instilled in this air mattress is the double lock valve. Normally, inflatable beds have two valves but, vulnerable to leak the air inside when you sleep on it. You may not want to wake up on a flatter version of those beds. It is a common issue of inflatables that you need to watch out.
It will be a regret if you bought it without doing some research. We really recommend reading some reviews before you proceed in buying the equipment. It can give you a summary of the gears.
On the side of Coleman, this air bed has a double lock valve. Why did they call it double lock? It is because you can lock the valve after you inflate the bed by pushing the valve to shrink.
Another lock is the external cap of the valve. In this way, it can secure the air you place inside and prevent it from leaking when you lay down on top of it. Other inflatable beds we have tested lack this kind of feature which results in deflating the bed even if you lock it. However, there are also dependable air beds that can assure the stability. This double lock valve also backs the fast deflation ability of the air bed which may come in handy for you.
We suggest you use electric pumps for easier and effortless inflation. Coleman has plotted this air bed with thick material for quick set-up and inflation. But bear in mind that some of their products do not include air pumps. The manufacturer recommends Coleman 120V or a battery-operated pump. It is very complex if you fill in the air of this bed with manual pumps.
Air mattresses of Coleman are made with Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC). This is stretchable material that can resist chemical spills, endure different weather, and fortifies the equipment to live a long life. There are some air beds made with nylon or even cotton which are also a great fabric to complement the comfort of the portable beds but with Coleman, they find it more interesting to use this kind of material to toughen and sturdy body figure of the bed.
Although the whole bed is covered with PVC, the top part is enclosed with a softer layer of PVC which makes the surface comfortable. The top surface has a 0.6mm thick PVC while the bottom has a 0.4 mm.
From our observation during our testing we did not encounter any air leaks however, some users stated that they started to experience some leaks after using it on continuous use.
Coleman Comfort Single Air Camping Bed has these important features:
- Thick and Tight
- Support Lock System
- Double Lock Valve
Take note of these disadvantages:
- No air pump included
- Side sleeping is uncomfortable
Coleman Comfort Single Air Camping Bed is one of the best self-inflating mattresses for camping we have tested. Some inflatable beds may not hold the same features as this air bed. The body is very sturdy, comfortable and you won't feel you are overly dipped because of the compact Support Lock System. It can assure the air inside of the bed as it is supported by a Double Lock Valve.
